Useful backgammon tips on how to win

Winning at the backgammon board game has become less a matter of luck and skills and more a matter of using cheating techniques. Even if it is morally wrong, this doesn’t stop people from cheating and making use of every trick they know in order to win the game.

Although the game of backgammon is one of the oldest games that ever existed, this doesn’t mean that it has been spared various forms of cheating attempts. Over the last few decades, ever since the game started to lean forward to the gambling industry, con artists thought up numerous techniques that would guarantee them a swift and decisive victory over their opponents.

In England, even after Queen Elizabeth prohibited the game from ever being played by anyone, it was still being practiced in back alleys mainly because it gave poor people a fair chance of winning some fast money. All of this changed once the loaded dice techniques was introduced and that was the moment when the game started to be less about fair play and more about winning by any means possible. This new method was by far better from the classic moving checker with the wrong number of spaces technique and provided the cheaters with an effective and very inconspicuous method of winning.

Another preferred method by the same individuals was the use of magnets that had the ability to influence the number shown by the dice whenever it was thrown. Although this method was highly successful as well, it needed a lot more attention and discretion on behalf of the cheater.

As times evolved and we rapidly approached the computer era, we managed to bring the game into the homes of everyone around the world by digitizing it and transforming it into a virtual environment. Just like anything that is stored virtually, the backgammon board game was not spared from cheating attempts that involved the ability to change the randomizing algorithm behind the dice roll or twisting the game to act inappropriately. The virtual world was now even more fragile and hard to control than a real environment but at least it gave us the comfort that we can play the game from any location on the Planet and still feel close to the opponent on the other side of the board.

The game as we know it today is a compendium of changes and customization that allow it to be less about cheating and more about keeping the fair play between the two players. Even if at some times the losing party might tend to be a little discouraged and even doubtful of the results of the game, this still doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t act in a sporting manner. Win or lose, the backgammon game is all about having fun and respecting your opponent the way you would like to be respected in turn.
